 After the First World War, the old hotel of the elephant very damaged by the bombings and was purchased and transformed into social center, by Dr. Julian S. Wadsworth, Delegate of the Committee of Foreign Missions of the Methodist Episcopal Church of the United States.

This work was created in memory of fallen U.S. soldiers around Chateau-Thierry, instead of raising a monument of stones Missions committee assignments built a monument to life in order to help rebuild devastated regions.
In 1931, after 12 years of constant action for the benefit of the inhabitants of the region of Chateau-Thierry, Committee of U.S. mission donated by deed to the town of Chateau-Thierry. A condition of this donation will be to keep this building as social work by the town of Chateau-Thierry.
Social Center offered to individual adults and children opportunities to develop the following activitiesKindergarden, medical consultation for infants, library, English classes, dance classes, lodging Charities and humanitarian assocsiations.
The building was poorly maintained for many years, quickly fell into disuse and was closed for unsafe, neglected. 
In 2008, with the arrival of the new Mayor of Chateau-Thierry, Mr Jacques Krabal, an ambitious restoration of this building is launched, the idea to revive this place marked by friendship and brotherhood between men is on the march. Cordelia Roosevelt and Roosevelt during opening new MAFA <br> The working site is already running, the museum opened July 13, 2009 in the presence of numerous political figures, representatives of national institutions and Mr Richard Williams Roosevelt, nephew of Quentin Roosevelt and great grand son of Theodore Roosevelt and Cordelia Roosevelt , great grand cousin of Quentin Roosevelt.
 Mr Mayor Krabal Chateau-Thierry MAFA inaugural speech. This place must give way to a memorial on Quentin Roosevelt and the Great War of 1914-1918, a municipal nursery and new installations of "Office du Tourisme de Chateau-Thierry".
The mayor of Chateau-Thierry is actively seeking monetary aid from individuals, private institutions or public interest in maintaining the chain of the Franco-American brotherhood beyond any political divide, if you also have records or 14-18 WWI artefacts your donations will be welcome.

The cemetery contains 144 burials and commemorations (13 United Kingdom soldiers, 4 Australian soldiers and 127 Canadian soldiers).
Roye New British Cemetery was made after the Armistice of 1918 when graves were brought from the battlefields and other cemeteries relocation.
The cemetery contains 141 Commonwealth burials (39 soldiers from United Kingdom, 3 soldiers from Australia, 59 soldiers Canadian, 1 South African), 39 of which are unidentified. There are also 14 French soldiers burials in the cemetery.
